The amazing location of Hotel Skaftafell provides guests with stunning views of Iceland's highest mountain, Hvannadalshnjukur and the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajökull.

Love the breakfast spread provided. Booked the hotel due to its close location to Jokulsarlon & Diamond Beach. Love the room. The surrounding of the hotel is pleasant. Near another tourist spot, the Hofskirkja, the turfed church.

only had one stay overnight but the hotel is in a fantastic location, offers great views even when you're not on the sea-side. nice and clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff, and access to hot tub and spa is included in the stay. we basically checked in and used the hot tub outdoors for a while, we even had a bunch of sheep walk by at some point. it was really nice and relaxing, just what we needed after a full day of exploring :)
The Potato Storage is offering accommodation in Svínafell, with free WiFi and free private parking. All guest rooms in the motel are fitted with a kettle.

A perfect self catered unit set in such a beautiful location with great hosts. The interior is finished to a very high standard and the surrounding area is just awesome. A GAS station 3km away served very good food and had an great atmosphere with stunning views. Very close proximity to the glacial lakes and just down the road from Skaftafell and other glacier outlets.

stunning, make sure you walk all the way down the trail, there are two other gorgeous waterfalls that a lot of people missed by not going all the way to end end of the trail (which is only a few hundred meters long).

This is an amazing place to hike and see some glorious views - especially on a clear day - which can be a bit tricky. We were extremely fortunate to have some of the the sunniest days recorded. Could not ask for a more comfortable hike. There are glacier hikes that you can pay for but honestly parking at the Park and hiking up yourself is something you will not soon forget. Not too laborious, but you defintely feel like you are exercising. Loved every minute of this hike and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Sadly we only had a day in Skaftafell and I wish we had more time to explore the national park. What we did see was stunning. Nature, hikes, glaciers and ocean all within a stones throw of each other. Well worth a longer visit than just to pass through.

Tremendous family run generational local property.
Tremendous family run generational local property. Gorgeous setting and very close to National Park. Great path in rear of property leading to amazing glacier views and outlet lagoon. Lovely dinner and dessert! Friendly, warm staff. Great relaxing indoor bar and outdoor patio with stunning glacier views. Thank you, Hotel Skaftafell!!!
Great staff, excellent free breakfast, good restaurant, and unforgettable views! The rooms are classically Euro- Spartan. No frills but all the basics were in good order. Room had twin beds instead of a single queen and the room was missing bath towels. All in all, a good experience and I would stay there again.
The staff was very accommodating. The surrounding location was stunning and everything was perfect for our group. Breakfast and our one dinner was delicious as well. Also, on our 2nd stay with you all it was so touching to see the hotel put up so many travelers due to the roads being closed due to the wind.
Wonderful place! The restaurant, while a bit expensive, served us wonderful food, perfect after a day of exploring. On top of that, 15 min walk behind the hotel allows you to see two glaciers and wonderful views. The best part was definitely chatting with Pedro, an exceptional receptionist and a great guy!
Great location. I picked this spot because there is a glacier in the property backyard that you can hike to and see it. Obviously going on the glacier is not safe or permitted. Very good breakfast options. We were able to buy veg dinner from the restaurant too.
We (pre-)booked a glacier hike tour in the glacier and a boat tour on the jökülsalon. So location is great. The burger shop at the gas station is ok, they also sell some food. You can also eat in the hotel which was very crowded each evening.
Perfect location and views. My absolute favorite trail walk is behind the hotel which takes you straight to Svinafelljokull —a MUST if you are in south Iceland. Plus great restaurant and fresh cuisine (breakfast and dinner) Takk!!
Chose this hotel for location to sites we wanted to visit. Location was perfect. The hotel was well run, well maintained, clean. Staff was most courteous and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. No other meals were taken there.
Great Hotel as base to do the different activities and visits around Vatnajökull Glacier, actually is almost the only one in the area. The breakfast was great and generous. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
We liked the location, it was close to the glacier and the walk behind the hotel was interesting. It was easy to find. We had a lovely dinner at the gourmet restaurant that night and it was very good.
The hotel is a 10-minute drive from the Skaftafall National Park. It was very comfortable to start the day. The breakfast is fine, and the staff are very lovely and welcoming. Everything was clean.
Very friendly staff. Superb location near Skaftafell National Park with a brilliant walk to a glacier from the hotel. Quality of the food in the restaurant was excellent.
Breakfast was plentiful. Facilities were clean. They had a variety of places to sit and plenty of sanitizer. Staff offered us direction to glacier behind hotel.
