It was across the street of the train station so i knew I didn't have to take public transport to the station. They were kind enough to allow me to leave my luggage there until I had to take my train which was a few hours after check out time. Their buffet breakfast was decent for 10 Euros - great coffee. No eggs though. All cold stuff.

Probably overlooked unless you go for the comic festival but a fun little place with a walking tour around the city, a river and park to spend some time and good food and drink options and a great comic museum!

Angouleme was unknown for us and we used it as an overnight stop on our trip to Spain. It turns out that Angouleme is a beautiful and lively little city and certainly worth visiting. We will consider visiting again and stay more than just a night.

Very magnificent city, perfect to watch sunsets 🌇, we were staying in an old part of it, but it made us 'wow" a lot. We would like to visit it again just to explore it more. But even if you are staying for one night, just go for a walk and experience it..it was very empty everywhere and quiet on Wednesday evening..we loved it. ! ❤️

The town is very walkable, up and down hills, you will earn your right to enjoy the most incredible food at any restaurant. I had one of the best meals of my trip at La Braise. Incredible, I need more time to explore this small village in the South of France.

A brief Sunday morning walk around the old town which included a visit to the beautiful market across the street from the hotel. We bought some delicious produce and enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate there.

Have passed many times on the train and thought I should visit! We Difficult to find a Carrefour City or similar small supermarket. However, we had a pleasant stay all told. Theatre - very impressive and good views from the old centre of the city. A buzz because of the film festival and we saw Brigitte Macron! There were teenagers chasing the film stars around town - it seemed very light hearted and relaxed.
(Forgot to mention on the property survey that the lift in building where flat was situated was very cramped and it was not easy to get a baby's pushchair in there).
Easy to book, very close to train station . As we live in the country 2 hr drive away and to make the 06:30 train to Paris it would have meant a very early start and drive in the dark, trying to sort out parking etc. We decided to rather drive over in the afternoon and spend the night in Angouleme so that boarding the train would be easy. This place is ideal and the ease of access, ( I am on crutches due to broken ankle so that was also something to consider) , the excellent instructions by the host and ease of checking in and out.
This place is amazing. What a find!! I loved the aesthetic of the entire property. Well thought through with beautiful attention to detail. I made my way up to the restaurant and had dinner (at the bistro) which was delicious (I just wish I had taken note of the wine I had!!). As there is no-one on the hotel site I paid for dinner, breakfast and the room with dinner which meant I could leave in the morning. I would recommend the breakfast and dinner - both were delicious.
Cannot recommend this spot enough.
Excellent city centre location, close to restaurants and bars, and the stunning Hotel de Ville. Very comfortable and clean, with nice touches like a fridge, coffee machine and small cakes for the morning. Small apartment, but with everything needed for a perfect one night stay, longer if required. Never met the host, but everything was efficiently handled via email, with quick responses. Excellent value for money. Recommended.
The apartment is centrally situated in Angouleme. Very close to shops and restaurants.
It is spacious and immaculately clean.
We were comfortable during our stay here.
Every little detail was thoughtfully considered, from bath towels to slippers!! It was like being at home.
I would definitely come and stay here again whenever I am back in Angouleme. I highly recommend this place.
This was one of the cleanest and beautifully designed rentals we’ve visited. No detail was overlooked (we had coffee, a washing machine, a guidebook to the city…). We even had an enclosed, private patio with table and chairs. We were close to downtown Angoulême (beautiful views) but still in a quit and safe neighborhood. Very comfortable for my family of four.
Our Villa Gaël stay was the highlight of our 3 weeks in France and Spain! Hands down, the most comfortable bed and best breakfast—so much delicious food! Great location to walk to the Cité de Bande Desinée. Also is close to the old city but is uphill (ramparts).
Its location, the outside of the building was very pretty. Its patio too. The rooms a bit disappointing for a 4 star hotel. This was the facto no more than a 3 star hotel. We appreciated that the fridge was empty —except for a courtesy bottle of mineral water
When I arrived the receipionist promptly tried to scam me out of an extra 15 euros. It took 5 to 10 minutes of arguing before she relented. Absolute scammers. I would have stayed in another hotel if I had wanted to pay more.
quaint and so typically French this was a delightful stay and so different to the countless corporate hotels available.
the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was lovely.
Our host was simply charming.
This is a classic, old-style hotel. Interesting building, personal attention and great views from some rooms, overlooking a garden and a wide panorama. The manager gave good local advice. Good breakfast.
Manager was brilliant. Couldn't do enough to help. Good breakfast. Hotel showing it's age but still comfortable and good value. Nice cafe/bar right next door as well. Nothing fancy but does the job.
After a terrible experience at another hotel, the Montana was amazing in every way.
The service, the apartment, the facility's were all just perfect and very good value.
Would highly recommend.
We had a very comfortable stay in a charming and cosy atmosphere in the heart of Angouleme. Julie is a very attentive host with precious recommendations on where to eat and what to visit
The apartment was very clean. It was very well set up with all the modern conveniences. Private parking was available. It is a 5 minute drive to the center of Angoulême.
The location is really good. We also liked the decoration of the hotel. The building was very authentic matching the French style of the city. Recommended!
